My new PC build.
This is my build.
I want to do an upgrade but can't really afford anything, but my case running movies is very noisy in my lounge room, my old house mate gave me his old PC and I upgraded all the parts inside except mainly the HDD's but they both died recently, so I had a new M.2 SSD put in and new motherboard and everything, only thing I'm not happy about it is the case and the heatsink on the processor I always feel someone is spying from the LED's.
But anyway I might get this case to solve the problem. It's an Antec silent one, looks really nice and pretty cheap. That's the great thing about cases they are well priced.
Priced from www.cplonline.com.au
Antec P10C Silent ATX Mid-Tower Case
Good thing about it is it's got under the front door a DVD drive slot for an optical disc drive, I like playing DVD's.
It's only $145.
I want it really quiet and my fans are a real problem in my current case, but I think my 650 Watt PSU is ok. It's fairly new.
I also want another 2TB M.2 SSD. I think I might go this one. Or I'd like to... but..
Samsung MZ-V9E2T0BW 990 EVO 2TB PCIe 5.0/4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
I'd love one of these but they're like $245 which is a lot for me. I can't really afford any of this...
So might go the Crucial one for $185.
Crucial CT2000P310SSD8 P310 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD
At some stage, probably not together.. as that's half my pension..
This one better for my processor, the other Crucial cheaper ones don't make use of the extra cache of the Intel i5 I think.. or i7 I can't remember they're more for i3.
It can mean extra double performance (wow super power whizz bang surprise extra magical dragon super feat!!!) I want to play some games or rendering AI video. Will help like speed up processing by half.
In the future I would like 4 x 8TB SSD drives in the case too for if I want to run a server sort of NAS thing... but when drives are like $1000 each for 8TB NAS ones or more even, its not easy that's over $4000 just for SSD's.
I could just get 4 of these 4TB ones, they are EVO so they have good compression, so if you compress and encrypt they hold same as a 8TB drive.. so that's an option, you get slight performance lag but not noticeable...
Samsung MZ-77E4T0BW 870 EVO 4TB 2.5" INTERNAL SATA SSD
(CPL has them too $10 more than Amazon but you save postage).
$469
Always go with Evo.. hahahaha cause that's me..
And some better RAM would be nice just the Crucial ones 2x32 GB look ok without RGB just the heat spreaders, I could get two packs and dual channel them. Max out my Motherboard at 128 GB. One day.. we can only dream a dream...
These look ok at $269, a lot for me but oh well...
Crucial CP2K32G4DFRA32A Pro 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 UDIMM 3200MHz CL22 Desktop Memory Kit.
The Pro version just has a bit better organisation of pipes so it doesn't heat up, you can run anything for hours except like new games, I just mean rendering some movies for a few days and it won't even heat up the Pro version, Value RAM can explode doing too much rendering at high speed. I have heard of it.
Pro RAM the computer gets too hot it just shuts down... sometimes better to spend an extra $50 for the better pipes.
It's a skill I developed.. years ago from an old friend who said just bullshit and after a while you make sense.
But it's true I tell no lies.. life is a lie that's all and I am the shining light.
If a child comes to you and says Mummy, I made a pancake out of grass and sand and rocks you want to come try some? Are they lying to you?
And I would like also one more thing for this build...
No that was all I think,
The new case Antec silent case with DVD drive. ($145)
The Crucial SSD M.2 2TB stick. ($185)
The Crucial 128GB (2x32GB) x2 dual channel pro packs RAM. ($269x2=$538)
The 4x4TB Samsung EVO SATA 2.5" SSD drives. ($469x4=$1,876.00)
Wow, 4 drives are the price of a whole system).. it might have to be a long wait.
And maybe down the track a good GPU, graphics card, though this one does 4K video pretty well, onboard Intel video.
So.... 145+185+538+1876=$2,744!!!
Plus about $650 for graphics sometime.
And I wanted a blu-ray drive to play Blu-ray Discs
up to 4K ultra wide UHD but its hard to find these days for your PC.
I have a basic wireless keyboard and touch pad, but maybe I might need a better wireless keyboard and mouse at some stage down the track if I pursue any interests in engineering or 3D or AI video??
This is my lounge room projector PC so it's on the big screen. I really love my AMD set up in my bedroom too and it has two monitors one is an LG UHD ultra wide screen too which looks good, the other just an old BenQ little one I use for documents while working. I got a flat one cause I love movies and don't like feeling too attached to the curved screens...
I've slowly over the years, got parts and upgraded my systems to what they are now.. when I got my Intel one here on the projector it was like OK, I can rest... and I did.. these upgrades will never happen.. and I know it.. I can't even get my car fixed!!!
I got this motherboard so I could have onboard graphics.. and my Intel CPU has GPU built in too. Saves buying a graphics card.. my set up without needing a case.. was about $770. I wanted to spend just $500 at centre com but couldn't quite do it. The heatsink looked flimsy.. I may get a better one, but it should be fine.. I'll definitely get a new case though so it's quiet for now.
My fish pump is very noisy though...
And my arse...
I suppose I could get just 4 x4TB Crucial drives like these save some money.. I mean why do I need that much space anyway? You can select a RAID version which only uses one of your drives for backup and you get the other three as storage so that's 12TB that's pretty good anyway.
This is what I mean from Google to save confusion..
"With a RAID 5 configuration using four 4TB disks, you get approximately 12TB of usable space, which is equivalent to the capacity of three drives, because the fourth drive's capacity is used for parity information to provide fault tolerance against a single drive failure. In practice, the usable space will be slightly less than 12TB due to overhead and formatting, with each 4TB drive providing roughly 3.6TB of usable space."
I think and don't quote me, I am not a manufacturer or professional computer expert. Superman might be but I am not yet!!, but I think you can compress and encrypt on the Samsung SATA 4TB drive in a server config and get double the space roughly. Worth testing.. the Crucial will do it probably too, just slightly less efficiently not having the EVO in there V-NAND I think they call it.
It won't say you have more space.. it will just hold more files..
Crucial CT4000BX500SSD1 BX500 2.5" SATA3 SSD 4TB
$375 each is pretty good.
I know these are the BX500 and are ok.. doesn't really tell you much in the specs section so might be holding back to look better, still can use compression to get the more space and encryption, but just might pinch performance more than the Samsung EVO, but unless you are like streaming video for editing, you wouldn't notice much just streaming movies to watch or backing up data.
Whole lot of specs below...
