About those moats on your property lines.. how about?
I think they are Fiords??
Where you raise both sides of the land in a hill either side and the middle fills up to the top of the hill lines with water, so you have raised creeks or river systems.. I think it's pretty good idea, just make them very steep to climb up except for parts where you connect the dams and have them run into the dams for animals to feed.
They will take a while to fill up, like you will have a trench down the middle for a while, but you could also scoop some from the other side up a bit too, I guess.
How would you do it, maybe with a front end loader with the tall crane arm and scoop? To reach over
Or even better a really wide big tall footed tractor with big scoop and run along the centre with tracks either side scooping it out from side to side, then get some caterpillars to manicure it into good strong walls.
Having raised creek or river systems, you get some pressure running down to your irrigation or dams.
How you feed the water in? Could run some rivers from up higher ground down and into the end at one end and fence off either side of the entrance?
I guess another good idea is large pipes to fence off the property.. just run them all along the boundaries?
Even half pipes?
Then the water is clean to drink for the animal not muddy, and also for plants and you could have river raft races down it if it had some current? Or on like canoes or something? Make them slightly bendy?
Down hills would be so cool.. and you could build a rapids sections.. and have even like small drops and stuff?
I guess if you get some property owners all together you could turn all your land into the greatest theme parks for anyone to just go and play, like no tickets just use at your own risk and have fun like any river.. and like camp out and build up like cabins I get like visions of places like Ettamogah pub??!!
like this!!.

I know I know, just build a dam river around your property.. yeah about 100 metres wide!!
There is a secret to building a river in the outback... you might think oh I will just attach to an existing river and feed off it and make a new one.. wrong, that will destroy that river system. And you will get times it will just dry out completely. You have to do it the right way so that your river feeds the other ones. Not depends on them. Then you'll get upstream pressure demand, not downward pressure.
So choose a spot where there is like a wide canyon, or a place where the hills are either side, and build a slowly developing canal, start off gently lowering the ground and slowly and surely build it deeper and deeper until you build your own river, and then run it onto your land, make it a loop so it feeds everything, then to get pressure, attach the end narrowly to another existing river down stream.. see what happens...
DON'T EVER DRAIN ANOTHER RIVER YOU WILL RUIN IT!!!
The Murray is a little bit unique it has been ruined little bit, but it runs from coast line to coast line so its like an ocean inlet in a way and outlet, so its a bit different.
But most other rivers you build off of them, they will dry and the spread out and wash...
If you give to a river, it will eventually create new outlets off it.. its the best way to create more rivers.. but really it is also better to plant trees along lines of earth either side eventually the soil will build up over about 50 years, and then the rain will wash in the middle and create one naturally no digging and you raise the sea level of the earth.
Rivers sometimes too change direction and run the opposite way, if this happens you are onto a winner, those tidal rivers are great!
