Parliament Question Time, watching it - I'll try and be positive..
Parliament is very much a battle between the English and the Aborigines and how to live without being together.
I had nothing to do with any Aborigine people growing up, until I became unwell and had to move to Darwin I met a few and it was intimidating they stand and stare like warriors at you, but really I think they are doing what they would normally do to people they don't know. I'm sure if you approached them in the street sitting when they are probably just bored and lonely wondering what to do with their day maybe hoping to meet some new faces, they would join you for a coffee or a hamburger.
But they sit on the pavement so when government bodies and representatives drive past they see them peeing and pooing in their own filth, when they probably smell a bit from every day dust and dirt sitting on the ground, but it is a nice feeling to feel that connection for them. I enjoy it too camping but for them it is every day. I am expected as a white man to shower once or twice a day so I won't perspire and smell or have stains.
hehehe.. Albanese just said something poignant "Everyone should comply to the law.." Well not true Albo... but anyway some don't have to. Nice work mate!!
But back to this well, so this battle has left us wanting to segregate and not mix with Aborigine people and they are happy with that only they are left with a bowl of dust instead of a long bark plate of fish and lizards and fruits and nuts and berries and yams and other things, they are expected to stay where they are like they were and eat dust.
Whereas we, the privileged ones can have all the lobster and fruits and everything on a silver tray and eat it in front of them, because they didn't take up our ways and we won. This is what parliament is boasting about ourselves to black people till they drop dead with shame and sadness.
See the shame isn't in Aboriginal peoples hearts. Ok they pinch some stuff from us, they drop a bit of rubbish around but what else? They like some fun, they get a bit drunk on alcohol they aren't really tolerant to, and commit a few robberies, maybe a few stabbings at worst or rapes.
What we do, is this. We decide that we will build a boat. And we plan it with the best materials from nature like as much heavy steel and iron and wood and everything the best mahogany or hard wood or whatever.. and then we just strip it out of nature and leave. It is someone else's problem...
If an Aboriginal person takes bark or something from nature, they will go back and restore that spot or make sure that tree survives or just take enough for that tree to recover and it will be scarred but it will not hurt the land. That is why they are more advanced race than us.
We as white people missed a stage when we were killing each other, to examine the spirit world without violence, and that is the difference. Aboriginal people spent thousands of years, dreaming of where their spirit walks, and they would see them in front of them walking about, or going walk about.... and they would follow that spirit seeing the footsteps in front of themselves or their ancestors creating paths for them.
We walk in destroy everything and sit around staring at technology.. who is more advanced? I learned these ways going to Darwin because I was open.. I do feel soooooo sorry for these politicians who probably will never know the love of their mother the land they walk upon.
Restore the damage you do, the rest doesn't matter.
And please stop changing my typing, I am a writer and I like my words and memories... and my story honoured.
