Some environment ideas you can do with no money I can think of I haven't gotten around to do myself yet.
- If you have birds and possums around make a nice nest bed for them or a bird or possum box high up in a tree or under an eave of your home. Be careful not to do anything too dangerous, get help to hold a ladder or call a professional to do a high tree box.
- You can plant vegetables in bulk for animals to enjoy, if you have a paddock, scatter lettuce and radishes and turnips and pumpkin and carrot and other low lying vegetable seeds around and cover with some dirt and water in. Animals get hungry too. After some time the poo and the old vegetables will enrich your soil, so plant some nice shrubs and things around the area, even some fruit trees and make an orchard.
- If you don't have a paddock or property talk to other people who have and see if you can help them?
- This process can apply to any area big or small, just be mindful to keep fire breaks and clearing around your valuable homes and sheds. But once the animals know you care they will help you out, so then plant some trees, doesn't matter which type nature will eventually decide what to keep and what to drop, and then you can take the wood and make things once it's fallen down the branches.
- Keep in mind the ultimate aim is to make rain forest again and keep the animals habitat in tact and safe, returning your property to nature, and then you will see you never needed to slaughter cows and sheep, or have farms, you could have always had your own ecological food system, where everything works together and enriches the planets resources. This is to create a world where we don't need to work for food, nature will do it all for us, even making plant based meat.
(Please stop hacking my site, thank you. Think up your own interests ok, this is mine.)
- Another thing you can do for your property is create a water source, so if you have a river down lower, build a little inlet above the river and place a dam to feed the river and have an over flow, dams seep up water from the expanses on your property, if the river is below the hill, and your dam half way down, then the rain fall above on top of the hill will feed the dam and the over flow will go to the river system.
- If you build a dam below, you will empty the river system and flood your dam.. its not good.
- With a flat property you can create a river by building one dam and attach to another dam further away with a narrow creek, and the slight degradation of slope will make a flow from one to another, you can then plant trees on the higher side, and it will eventually build a mountain side.
- A surveyor's lens will make it easier to find the slope, but wherever you do it, usually there will be a slight difference.
- It's good to have water sources for frogs and other little creatures to wash and bath, cows will ruin your dam and sheep will tread it into mud, best to have kangaroos and wallabies and wombats and other native animals like Emu. I think Emu still aren't extinct. These animals have long feet and sit on the mud, don't sink into it. Kangaroos almost like wearing skis. lol
- If you have cows, keep them away from rivers and dams, and just have a trough in their pen. Pump water and filter and give them fresh clean water to drink in a trough or basin. Cows and sheep if they have a nice shed will bed together and sleep and keep warm same as horses, but keep horses away from cows and sheep in their own separate paddock or pen with a nice warm shed. They freeze in winter even with coats on, and having a shed will prolong their life even double it, stop arthritis and other problems with cold in the bones. Snakes watch and if you are cruel to other animals will attack you, otherwise they like to keep away.
- If you have chickens around foxes, remember foxes need food too, so don't worry if you lose a chicken, just get a rooster away from your house in a nice hen house and raise chickens and feed your foxes, they are lovely pets.
- Often you will get a snake in the hen house and they will remain there and eat eggs, if you are mindful they will deter the foxes and fight off the foxes.. so you create a balance, and happy snakes well fed won't attack you, but please be careful. Wear long gaiter trousers and heavy boots that are fully protected when getting eggs.
- Remember a roost for chickens well off the ground near the roof. So they can rest on there and not get bitten by snakes.
- You might even be rewarded and find a green python instead after a while the tiger snakes when fed will change to pythons, they don't have venom. Tiger snakes with venom are really angry at people, but pythons usually are raised in a forest are very placid and nice to hold. Snakes like some Chameleons change to suit the environment, a happy environment and cool, they won't be dangerous. Still if unsure be very careful!!!
- These look ok, but maybe with heavy pants too?
- Watch your arms and hands and face too. A well designed hen house where you have eggs roll out the back into a tray is good.
- Sorry my computer playing up and being slow.... maybe my site is busy? It's not showing up clicks.
- How could you choose to want to kill these beautiful little babies?
